Method of Application

All Chemsol Products are recommended to be applied only by Approved Applicators and should be used after using proper PPEs like Gloves, mask, goggles etc.

Substrate Quality

The CDS (clean, dry, sound) test must be conducted before the application of primer to the concrete substrate. The substrate must be free of all contaminants such as dirt, oil, grease, coatings, surface treatments, etc. If in doubt, apply a test area first.

Application conditions

Substrate temperature: 10-40°C

Substrate moisture content: - <5%

Relative humidity: 8o%max

Note: The substrate temperature must be at least 3°C above the prevalent dew point temperature to reduce chances of condensation on the floor.

Substrate Preparation

Concrete substrates must be prepared mechanically using abrasive blast cleaning, scarifying, or grinding equipment to remove cement laitance and achieve an open-textured surface. Remove weak concrete and expose surface defects such as blowholes and voids. Repairs to the substrate, filling of blowholes/voids, and surface levelling must be carried out using appropriate products. Ensure that the dust, loose and friable material is completely removed from all surfaces by brush and vacuum before application of the product. The concrete substrate has to be primed and levelled with Chemprime/ Chembase 150 in order to achieve an even surface and to seal the porosities. Allow the primer to cure for 5-6 hours. After this, depending on the system selected, either apply a screed coat followed by fixing of high adhesion *Chemopper special grade copper tape/ or copper tape can even be directly applied on the primer by omitting the screed coat. The copper tape is then connected securely to the earthing points. Now apply a 2K conductive primer coat of Aquaprime at a DFT of 90-110 microns. This is followed by the application of Chemstat ESD Topcoat as per the guidelines below. (Note: Adhere to the curing schedule of Aquaprime conductive primer before application of topcoat.)

Application of Chemstat ESD Top coat.

Pour the resin part in a 20L bucket and add colour paste to the resin and mix till a uniform colour is achieved. Add hardener to this mixture and stir continuously for 1minute until a homogeneous mass is obtained. Add aggregates to this mixture and continue stirring for a further 1 minute. Now add Antistats paste and stir for 2 minutes with a motorised cowls blade disperser stirrer until a uniform mix is obtained. Overmixing must be avoided to minimise air entrainment. Strictly do not use other type of stirrer as it can damage the structure of Antistats and adversely affect the conductivity.

*Note that the mixture has a stipulated pot life hence the laying should immediately commence after mixing the contents.

Pour the contents onto the floor and spread evenly with the help of a notch trowel, and then roll with a spike roller to de-air and to obtain a uniform thickness.

Curing Schedule

The epoxy curing reaction rate is temperature dependent. Refer to the following table to know how quickly the floor can be brought to service
Temp. (°C)Foot trafficFull cure
10°C48 hours120 hours
20°C36 hours96 hours
30°C24 hours72 hours

Cleaning of Tools

Clean all tools and application equipment with thinner EP140 immediately after use. Hardened and/or cured material can only be removed mechanically.

Packing

Chemstat ESD Resin, Hardener, aggregates, and antistats are available in a pre-weighed kit which covers 9-10 sq m area with an approximate thickness of 1.5 mm.

Handling & Safety

Keep the containers tightly sealed when not in use. Avoid skin contact and inhalation of fumes (if any). While spraying it is advised to wear a mask. If it comes in contact with the body, wash affected parts with plenty of soap and water. In case of persistent irritation, contact a physician.
