Metal Guard AC

Two-component polyurethane-based Aromatic coating.

Product Description

Metalguard AC is a two-component, polyurethane, aromatic coating specially used for metal substrate as a finish product. It has strong adhesion, fast drying, and gives excellent abrasion resistance to various metal substrates.

Uses

  • In Factories for platforms, pipelines, refineries, petrochemical plants, and bridges.
  • Equipment, vessels, and machines are exposed to the interior atmosphere.
  • Can be used for aluminium sheets, gas cylinders, in workshops, etc, to protect from an aggressive environment.

Storage Conditions/Shelf Life

12 months from the date of manufacturing if stored properly in undamaged seal packaging, at a temperature between 5°C – 30°C. It should be kept in a cool, well-ventilated area, away from heat, direct sunlight, sparks, and children.

Salient Features

  • Life and durability of the structure is increased.
  • Easy to apply
  • Excellent bonding to the surface.
  • Suitable for interior application.
  • Fast drying, high scratch resistance
  • Excellent resistance to water, mild acids, alkali and soluble metal salts.

Method of Application

Substrate must be clean and dry. Remove all loose existing coatings, heavy rust, debris, and oil by solvent cleaning. Remove Weld spatters by grinding. Sharp edges of Welding, if any, must be rounded off. Perform Abrasive blasting with an average surface profile of 40 to 75 microns. The relative humidity of the substrate should not exceed 85% the substrate temperature should be more than 3°C above the Dew Point to avoid condensation of moisture onto the substrate prior to coating application.

Priming

Remove dust from the surface. Ensure that the surface to be coated is clean, dry, and free from any contaminants. Prime the surface with a suitable epoxy-based primer./Chemozinc EP

Application Conditions

Apply with airless spray (preferred method) with a tip size of 0.53-0.58 mm and at 110-160 kg/cm² pressure. For application with a Traditional air spray gun, additional dilution may be required. For difficult shapes, or touch-up application can be done with a brush. For brush application, two coats may be required to achieve the desired film thickness.

Attention

Apply a mist coat of topcoat paint before the final application of topcoat to avoid
Craters or blisters develop.

  • Do not overapply. Over-application may cause an increase in curing time and adhesion failure of the overcoating.
  • During or after application, exposure to low temperatures and/or high humidity may cause incomplete cure and thus cause failure in subsequent intercoat adhesion.

Mixing

Metalguard AC is available in two packs., Mix Resin and Hardener in a prescribed ratio and mix for 2 minutes with a helical paint mixer. Visually ensure that the mixture has become homogeneous. For quick homogenous mixing, mix the hardener gradually into the base under continuous stirring as per the mixing ratio. Once the mixture has been mixed, it should be consumed within the working pot life. Close the lids of containers tightly to avoid contact with atmospheric moisture. Thinner should be added after mixing the components and post the induction time. The addition of excessive thinner will lead to reduced sag resistance

Cleaning of Tools

Clean all tools and application equipment with a suitable thinner like EP 140 immediately after use. Hardened and/or cured material can only be removed mechanically.

Packing

Chemcrete HD is available in a pre-weighed kit of 31kg consisting of Resin, Hardener, Aggregates, and pigment paste.

Handling and safety

Avoid direct contact. Wear personal protective equipment like chemical-resistant goggles/gloves/clothing, etc., to prevent direct contact with skin and eyes. Apply in well-ventilated areas. Open doors and windows during use. Please refer to our Material Safety Data Sheet before using the product.

Packing: Available in 5 lit and 20 lit. Pails.
