Roof Waterproofing

Chemsol Chemroof

Chemsol Chemroof is an elastomeric waterproofing membrane based on modified acrylic emulsion, strongly recommended for high-build waterproofing applications. It adheres firmly to surfaces and provides an excellent water-resistant coating for years. This coating is extremely tough, elastic, and easy to apply using a roller or squeegee.

Applications
  • Waterproofing plain slab and sloping roofs.
  • Waterproofing of parapet walls.
Features
  • Easy to apply with brush, squeegee, or roller.
  • Good adhesion to concrete.
  • VOC free.
  • Can be applied on both horizontal and vertical surfaces.
  • Provides a highly durable seamless waterproofing membrane.
Method of Application
1. Surface Preparation
  • Surface should be clean, dry, and in sound condition.
  • All dirt, grease, and loose particles should be removed, and the surface should be washed thoroughly with clean water.
  • The surface should be moist before the coat application.
2. New Surfaces
  • The newly constructed surfaces shall be completely cured before coating application.
3. Cracks and Joint Treatment
  • All surface cracks from 0–5mm shall be opened with a 3mm angle grinder.
  • The opened cracks shall be cleaned properly and filled with Chem Crack Fill (acrylic crack-filler) or PU Sealant.
  • Cracks more than 5mm should be repaired using polymer-modified mortar of Chemfast SBR with a cement sand ratio of 1:3 and polymer content of 10% by weight of cement. Allow it to cure as required.
4. Priming
  • Apply a priming coat with Chemsol Chemroof diluted with 50% water. The priming coat provides coverage of approximately 80–100 Sqft/L depending upon surface finish.
  • The surface should be maintained in SSD condition prior to priming application.
  • Chem Seal Prime can also be used for priming purposes with 50% water dilution.
5. Application
  • Mix the bucket contents thoroughly before use.
  • Properly detail the drain outlets using an additional piece of fiberglass mesh as reinforcement.
  • Apply the first coat of Chemsol Chemroof with a coverage of 0.45 Ltr/Sqm/Coat over the surface. Allow it to air dry for at least 6 hours.
  • Apply the second coat at a 90° angle to the first coat and allow it to dry for another 6 hours minimum.
6. Ponding
  • Allow the system to air cure for 7–8 days before performing the pond test.
  • Ponding should be done with water not more than 5 cm in height.
Precautions and Limitations
  • Do not dilute Chemroof with water for coating application.
  • Keep the material tightly closed when not in use.
  • Vehicular or machinery movement is not recommended on the coated surface.
